The University of Western Attica (UNIWA), established in March 2018 from the merger of TEI Athens and AEI Piraeus Technological Sector, serves around 57,800 students across 27 departments within six faculties. It offers diverse undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs while emphasizing modern teaching methods and advanced infrastructure. UNIWA features numerous research laboratories that support educational and research initiatives, aiming to advance scientific inquiry across various fields. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, these labs enhance the quality of education and facilitate high-level research, all connected to GUNET (the Greek University Network).

In the PROTEIN4IMPACT project, UNIWA leads WP5, designing and implementing a nutritional intervention focused on promoting awareness and acceptance of alternative proteins. The intervention highlights the health and environmental benefits of reducing meat consumption, and is guided by the Transtheoretical Model of behaviour change (TTM). UNIWA explores social and cultural dimensions, including gender and age aspects, aiming to assess behavioural shifts and consumer acceptance of novel protein sources. With a strong foundation in health sciences, UNIWA contributes to building a cross-disciplinary research agenda on sustainable eating habits.
